Maps – The birth of capitalist economy

Share

Language: English

By presenting the flow of goods and slave labour in the centuries following the conquest of the Americas, the maps aim to underline a fundamental turning point in global history: the transition from a world system of economic exchange that did not produce strong inequalities to one based on unequal trade, in which some European states became dominant. The understanding of this shift helps develop the capacity to grasp discontinuity in history and in human action in general.
