How can artistic creation help explore human rights and global challenges in a meaningful way?
The GET Spain team developed a proposal to engage young people (aged 11 to 16) in a process where creativity becomes a tool to approach human rights in a close, participatory and meaningful way. The initiative was implemented at Ugazte, the youth space of the Huarte Town Council (Navarre), which has become a meeting place for shared reflection and creative experimentation. The proposal has addressed issues such as inequalities, gender equality, climate change and migration, fostering critical reflection and social commitment from a local perspective.
Throughout the activity, the young participants worked on different human rights and represented them on linoleum plates designed by themselves. The carving, inking and printing processes resulted in images of great visual impact, conveying messages linked to dignity, equality and social justice. The resulting works reflect how young people can transform their concerns and questions into meaningful artistic expressions.
This experience highlights the potential of art as an educational resource within Global Citizenship Education, as it encourages critical expression, dialogue and the connection between global challenges and everyday life. At the same time, it reinforces one of the principles of our project: placing young people as active protagonists of social change.

The development of the proposal was made possible thanks to the collaboration between the GET partner Coopera, the NGO RODE and Ugazte, as part of the lines of work of the GET project in North-Central Spain. Coopera contributed the pedagogical approach characteristic of Global Citizenship Education, RODE supported the group in the creative process through the linoleum printmaking technique, and Ugazte provided a close and accessible space that encouraged the active participation of the young people.
Initiatives like this one demonstrate the importance of collaboration between educational, social and municipal entities to create spaces for transformative learning. The learning outcomes generated go beyond the artworks created and contribute to strengthening a more aware, participatory and committed youth community, capable of facing the challenges of the present and the future.
