On 21 and 22 October, Seville will host the GET international seminar “From the School Curriculum to Youth Action for Global Justice: Youth Action Initiatives for Generating Community Impact”. The event will focus on young people as agents of change, highlighting their capacity to drive meaningful community impact. It will also explore how to connect educational work in schools with youth participation and action for global justice.
The event is organized by the Andalusian NGO Coordinator (CAONGD), the GET partner in Andalusia, with the support of the other project partners. The programme features the participation of the Andalusian Agency for International Development Cooperation and the Council of Europe, bringing together young people, education professionals and representatives of social organisations from across Europe.
Over two days, the seminar will address issues such as youth activism for gender equality, climate justice, the rights of migrants and global justice. The discussions will also examine the role of educators and CSOs in supporting these processes, focusing on how to foster young people’s autonomy and leadership.
Combining panel discussions with practical workshops, the seminar will share tools and experiences for educational settings. Topics will include designing learning sequences focused on youth action, building sustainable participation processes, the Whole School Approach (WSA), inclusive youth participation and care.
Day two will broaden this perspective to the wider community, with sessions on community mapping with young people, digital activism connected to local realities, public advocacy and building partnerships. Strategies for gathering social feedback and evaluating the impact of youth initiatives will also be explored.
The seminar will feature experiences and contributions from different European organisations. This cross-border exchange will provide an opportunity to explore different approaches to supporting youth participation and connecting schools with their communities. The seminar will conclude by giving the floor back to young people, spotlighting awareness-raising experiences and community impact projects developed in schools and local communities.
