Global Education Time (GET) resources offer a powerful way for Junior Cycle History students to explore major global issues like migration and international inequality. Our curriculum-linked Teaching & Learning Units (TLUs) align with all three strands of Junior Cycle History and support the development of key skills and statements of learning.
These resources provide ideal support for Classroom-Based Assessments (CBAs) such as The Past in My Place and A Life in Time. Students are encouraged to investigate topics like the contribution of a migrant to their local community, local links to famine or poverty, how this reflects global inequalities and also the significance of a local landmark linked to migration and/or as a reflection of global inequality. They can also explore the stories of historical migrants or compare past and present migration experiences to better understand how global inequalities have shaped lives over time.
All resources are available in Irish and are designed to bring a global dimension into the local classroom.
Teachers can also access “A Global History of Humanity”, the first geo-history textbook for Europe, developed through the Get Up and Goals! EU project, offering a multilingual approach to teaching history.
