New Gender Inequalities Teaching and Learning Unit Now Available

We are delighted to launch our new Gender Inequalities Teaching and Learning Unit, available as a free classroom resource.

Developed through the Global Education Time project and edited by A Partnership with Africa (APA), the unit is aligned with our existing resources on Climate Change, Migration and International Inequalities.

Designed for students aged 11–16, it includes curriculum-linked activities for Junior Cycle CSPE, History and Geography and is also suitable for Transition Year Global Citizenship Education modules. Teachers can select individual activities or use several sections together.

The resource helps students explore:

• gender roles, norms and stereotypes
• discrimination and intersectionality
• gender-based violence
• equality and gender equity
• women’s rights and political participation
• positive action and Global Goal 5

Students engage through discussion, walking debates, timelines, videos, research, diamond ranking and PhotoVoice.

Real-world examples include women’s rights in Ireland, the 1926 Census, the repeal of the Eighth Amendment, women in politics and the Housemaids Association of Ethiopia, supported by APA.

The unit also includes guidance for creating a safe and supportive classroom when discussing sensitive topics. It encourages respectful dialogue, critical thinking and informed action.
