{"id":2323,"date":"2026-08-11T17:42:04","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T16:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.globaleducationtime.eu\/ireland\/?p=2323"},"modified":"2026-08-11T17:42:04","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T16:42:04","slug":"new-gender-inequalities-teaching-and-learning-unit-now-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.globaleducationtime.eu\/ireland\/new-gender-inequalities-teaching-and-learning-unit-now-available\/","title":{"rendered":"New Gender Inequalities Teaching and Learning Unit Now Available"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are delighted to launch our new <strong>Gender Inequalities Teaching and Learning Unit<\/strong>, available as a free classroom resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Developed through the <strong>Global Education Time project<\/strong> and edited by <strong>A Partnership with Africa (APA)<\/strong>, the unit is aligned with our existing resources on <strong>Climate Change, Migration and International Inequalities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Designed for students aged 11\u201316, it includes curriculum-linked activities for <strong>Junior Cycle CSPE, History and Geography<\/strong> and is also suitable for <strong>Transition Year Global Citizenship Education modules<\/strong>. Teachers can select individual activities or use several sections together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The resource helps students explore:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>gender roles, norms and stereotypes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>discrimination and intersectionality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gender-based violence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>equality and gender equity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>women\u2019s rights and political participation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>positive action and Global Goal 5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students engage through discussion, walking debates, timelines, videos, research, diamond ranking and PhotoVoice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Real-world examples include women\u2019s rights in Ireland, the 1926 Census, the repeal of the Eighth Amendment, women in politics and the <strong>Housemaids Association of Ethiopia<\/strong>, supported by APA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The unit also includes guidance for creating a safe and supportive classroom when discussing sensitive topics.
